Geerpres Incorporated got its start during the height of the depression in 1935. In the beginning it was a one product company. It manufactured from metal stampings a product commonly referred to as a downward pressure mop wringer. This was a system whereby a floor mop is inserted in a hopper, two pressure bars close over the mop extracting virtually all liquid from the mop with one operation of the handle. The company pioneered this system and though it has added a number of other products, still enjoys notoriety in reputation far exceeding its size within the floor maintenance industry. The name Geerpres, is to commercial mop wringers, what Kleenex is to tissues in the paper industry.
