Hemlock Vintage is an exclusively online vintage clothing boutique established in December of 1999 by me, Julia, in the lovely DC suburb of Greenbelt, MD. I wanted to create a unique online vintage clothing boutique offering a fashionable well made stock, professional photography, no-nonsense descriptions of the clothing and an attractive, easy to navigate website. Back in 1999, these things were not the norm. Our selection ranges from hard to find designer items to hip urban vintage.
I opened this shop straight out of school, selling my own collection, and I have been collecting vintage clothing since I was a toddler. My dad regularly let me run loose in thrift stores, buy whatever I wanted, helping to develop my unique sense of style. Thanks to my background in photography and design, I do all of the photography and designed the website.
Everything on the site is handpicked and priced based on quality and style. We inspect every piece of clothing up and down, inside and out, clean and refurbish what can be cleaned and refurbished, and list any flaws. One of our favorite customers said it best, "Everything that I have received from you always exceeds my expectations. Your pictures and descriptions are the most well represented on the web as I have been to every vintage house possible, but the clothes are always true to description but so much more beautiful than I am expecting."

We started enokiworld in 1999 out of the frustration over not being able to find hip vintage clothing in the city where we lived. So if we couldn't find cool stuff in the St. Louis stores, we knew that girls living in more obscure cities and towns were having an even tougher time of it. We sat down, inventoried our wares and drew enokiworld.
We are firm believers in being able to try clothing on in the privacy of your own bedroom, where the lighting is always good and you can check out how our vintage pieces are going to work with the things you already own. Being the first store in Camden to import American vintage clothing meant that its range was as diverse as its customers. It was rare for anyone to leave without finding a treasure to take home!

The shop stocks vintage mens’ and womens’ wear from the 1950's to 1980's, including many unworn "dead stock" items. Modern Age is now also reproducing garments from original vintage patterns, adapting the sizes to fit today's frame, including 50’s style halter dresses and men’s 1970’s style frilly shirts in bright, authentic colours and prints.
