Others may try to imitate our lifting devices, but no competitive model can compete with the strength and durability that we build into each of our products. Find pipe tongs, scissor tongs, wall clamps, Slab Crabs, and much more. We also offer a wide range of digging, demolition, and material handling attachments for excavators, backhoes, and skid steers. Whether you are clearing sites for construction or moving concrete barrier and jersey walls, Kenco lifting tongs, clamps, and attachments can make your work faster and easier. Kenco attachments are better engineered and more ruggedly constructed to provide you with years of dependable service. Excavator attachments, wheel loader attachments, backhoe, dozer, and skid steer attachments for construction and demolition projects are available, plus custom designs for a specific attachment can be accomplished by our engineering team. Most of our lifting tongs such as the barrier tongs and pipe tongs use an exclusive actuator that works without the need to hook up hydraulic lines. The actuator uses the weight of the lifter together with the power of gravity to cause the tongs to open and close with each cycle

In 1956 Loftness Manufacturing, the forerunner of Loftness Specialized Equipment, Inc., had its beginnings in a farm shop owned by Dick Loftness, a Hector, MN farmer. Dick had made a V-type snowblower for his own use. A few neighbors saw the blower and asked if Dick would make one for them. Soon Dick had made several of the snowblowers, and Loftness Manufacturing was launched.
Gradually, the sales grew until it reached the point where Dick could no longer operate at the farm. He moved the business into a small, vacant building in Hector and employed a few farmers who were not busy in the winter. In 1970, Marv Nelson, a local farmer, began acting as a distributor for Dick. He bought the snowblowers directly from Loftness and traveled the upper Midwest, selling them to farm implement dealers. Gradually, sales increased, and the Loftness Snowblower name was beginning to be recognized. Loftness Manufacturing was once again moved in 1975, this time into a building Dick had built in Hector. The company continued to grow, but by 1979 Dick decided to sell. Marv Nelson bought the business, controlling production as well as distribution. Semi-trucks were purchased, and snowblowers were delivered directly to dealers. Up to this point, snowblowers were the only product manufactured. Sales fluctuated widely; since they were dictated solely by weather. Another product was needed to smooth the peaks and valleys of sales.

Mitchell Equipment Corporation was founded in 1978. The company designs and manufacturers Rail Gear and attachment systems for vehicles and construction equipment. The company started out in 1978 manufacturing attachments for cranes such as rail threaders, railcar coupler attachments and crane wheel grab attachments.
In 1980's the Friction Drive Rail Gear system for rough terrain cranes was developed. The system was also applied to front-end loaders along with 180° swing loader attachments that accepted a variety of attachments such as buckets, forks, grapples, magnet systems, couplers and train air brake system. It was at this point the company started putting together “Rail Gear” systems that consisted of Rail Gear and specialty railroad attachments. The concept of “Rail Gear” systems led is to putting together a system for backhoe loaders that we called the “One Man Gang” for backhoe loaders. In 1985 Mitchell introduced the concept of hydraulic Rail Gear for track inspection trucks for North America at Remsa in Dallas, Texas. Today hydraulic Rail Gear for track inspection trucks is the norm.
During the 1990’s the company applied it’s “Rail Gear” systems to a large variety of trucks, loader, cranes, skidders and backhoes and developed many attachments. In 1999 the company developed a wheel adapter system that can be used with off-the-shelf Accuride® rims so the tires of a track inspection truck tires can sit on the railhead. This patented invention solved the number one Hy-Rail Gear problem; railroad truck ride quality.
